RE: Crossing Border

WE were in Canada in June and had no problems as long as you answer no to everything! Everyone told us how we would need papers for our dog, but they didn't even ask to see them, however, if we hadn't had them, they probably would have! Just don't answer "yes" if they ask you if you have any weapons. One of the guys in our group said yes when asked if he owned any weapons, (perfectly legal in our country) and they pulled him over and searched his truck!!!!!

RE: Dish network pay as you go

I don't know about Dish, but with DirecTV, you can take a receiver out of your house, use while you're traveling, then put it back when you get home! We actually just got our 3rd receiver, because my husband was tired of hooking & unhooking the receiver every time we went somewhere. Now, we're just leaving it in the rv. You can de-activate them if you're not using them, like in the winter! We may just put it in our bedroom during the winter.

RE: Faulty Rear Door Locks

I wanted to reply regarding our rear door locks. I called our dealer and told him what Jim said regarding the relays possibly being the problem. He had me bring the truck in, and sure enough, it was the relay and not the actuators! Because the technician had mis-diagnosed our problem, he fixed it at no charge! So kudos to Jim for finding this out and letting me know!!!!! This forum really does help people.

RE: St. Louis

We tried staying at the Casino Queen last year on our way back from Indiana. We were paying cash, and she wanted our credit card anyway, we said "why", she said to protect us if you do any damage. We said, we're only spending the night, we're not going to do any damage. We were goosy about giving our credit card out because we had our number stolen earlier that year at a motel. Anyhoo, she insisted and we ended up leaving. We stayed at Jellystone Park near Six Flags. It's a little tricky to get into with a long 5th wheel, but we managed and had free wi-fi!

RE: Smell .. maybe fridge but think its electrical .. need help

Kevin, I don't know about the rv batteries, but last week when we were in SW Missouri attending a softball tournament, we noticed a sulfpher smell (rotten eggs) and thought it was some factory in the town we were in. Later, we drove to another town and still smelled it, then when we got to our rv park in Roaring River, we could still smell it, so decided it was coming from our truck! Turns out it was the battery leaking. We have two since it is a diesel, so we went to Walmart and had them replace both batteries since they were 60 month batteries and the truck is five years old next month. It was our first experience with batteries smelling like sulpher when they go bad.

RE: Why go to a Rally?

I would avoid the big rallies, like Bill said, thousands of people crammed into small spaces with no hook-ups. But having said that, we belong to the Cedar Creek RV Club and Cedar Creek RV Owners Club and have been to several of their rallies. Lots of fun, good food and meeting new people. We just returned from two rallies in June. One in Shipshewana, IN and one in Niagara Falls, Canada. Had a great time!

Faulty Rear Door Locks

I'm wondering if anyone else on this forum has had a problem with the door locks on their Chevy Duramax Diesels? We have a crew cab with the keyless entry and on a recent trip, the backdoors wouldn't lock when we push the button on our key fob, or the lock on the front doors wouldn't lock them either. They'll unlock, but not lock. We took it in to the dealer to have a fuel filter put on, and we asked him to look at them. He told us the actuators needed replacing, they cost $80/ea. plus $60/ea. to install. My husband said, "forget it." My son doesn't think that is the problem, because he said if the actuators weren't working, the doors wouldn't unlock either. Anyone have an opinion on this or a cheap fix?

RE: Is there a problem with Rv Net ?

How about when you put your cursor over the topic and a big rectangular box flashes off and on. You use to be able to read the first first lines of a topic, but now all you get is this flashing box!

RE: Camp Lakewood near Effingham, IL

We've stayed there twice, last year and about 2 weeks ago. It is in a nice wooded area, but the small lake had a lot of moss on it. There is a Walmart super center nearby as well as numerous places to eat. We liked Joe's Pizza downtown and there is a place called Neimeyer's Steak House that sounded good. They have brochures in the office for them when you check in.

RE: Walmart more heart then KOA

I know that some KOA's are not very good, but we did stay recently at one in Wapakoneta, OH that was really nice and the people who own it were also very nice. I would recommend it highly. They had a lovely pool, nice clean sites, free wi-fi and cable tv. I believe it cost us $27/night. We did have 10% off coupon.

RE: Satellite TV at home and road

We went on a 2 1/2 wk. trip last month and took our receiver with us. When we got home and hooked it back up, it worked just fine. We went clear to Niagara Falls, Canada with it. Had trouble getting the dish tuned in up there, though!

RE: When will this bubble burst??

That's called communisim! I actually thought it was funny calling Bush a Shrub! I'm not entirely blaming him for the problem, but I think the fact that he and Cheney are oilmen might have just a little bit to do with it. I am looking for the book "House of Saudi, House of Bush." I hear it's very enlighting about the relationship of the Bushes and the Saudi leaders. Also, my Pop said during the first "oil shortage", trade them a bushel of wheat for a barrel of oil. I don't think they can eat that black stuff, and they certainly can't grow wheat in the desert!!!

RE: FMCA Convention

Unless you actually need some spare parts, I wouldn't take the time to stop at the RV surplus store in Elkhart. We were just there a couple of weeks ago and weren't impressed.

RE: I got Satelite 110 West, But not 119 West (Dish)?

Speaking of finding satellites! We were in Canada last week, Niagara Falls, and my husband had a terrible time trying to lock in the signal for our DirecTV. He finally got it after a couple of hours of trying, then the next morning we had lost it again and so on. This happened 3 or 4 times while there. He had the proper directions, based on the rv parks instructions, but it was just very difficult to hold it. Does anyone know why this would happen? I thought maybe it was because we were so far north, but I would think that wouldn't make any difference.

RE: Diesel Fuel Tax/Surcharge in Indiana

Not totally right, we just camped in Shipshewana, IN a week ago, and one place where we filled up did not charge us the taxed price. They let us have it at the tax exempt price. HOwever, I doubt if they were supposed to do that, but the guy said, you're from Kansas, you don't care (don't know what he meant by that) and I don't either!!!
